Experience Vietnam’s diverse climate – Cycle from the north through the cool central highlands, taking in the changing scenery and culture along the way.
Day 1: Hanoi – Ninh Binh (L)
On the first day of our trip, we’ll cycle from Hanoi to Hoa Lu to visit the Dinh and Le temples. Later, we’ll continue to Tam Coc, a stunning region of limestone cliffs and rice paddies. We’ll take small boats to explore the three fascinating caves of Tam Coc before transferring to Ninh Binh for an overnight stay.
Day 2: Dong Loc Junction (via HCM Trails) 40 km+ (B, L)
In the morning, we’ll transfer by bus to Vinh. From there, we’ll cycle along the former Ho Chi Minh Trails, stopping to visit the famous Dong Loc Junction — a key crossing heavily bombed during the Vietnam War.
Day 3: Huong Khe – Khe Ve – Khe Gat – Phong Nha 80 km+ (B, L)
We’ll ride along the Ho Chi Minh Trails, passing through ethnic villages and experiencing mountain life. Later, we’ll arrive at Phong Nha, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and settle down for the night.
Day 4: Phong Nha – Dong Hoi 50 km+ (B, L)
We’ll begin with a boat tour to explore the world-renowned caves of Phong Nha. Afterward, we’ll cycle to Dong Hoi. There, you’ll have time to swim or relax on the beautiful beaches of Nhat Le. We’ll stay overnight in Dong Hoi.
Day 5: Dong Hoi – Truong Son National Cemetery – Dong Ha 90 km+ (B, L)
We’ll cycle through a historically fierce area of the Vietnam War, passing Thach Ban and Ben Tat. We’ll visit Truong Son National Cemetery, the resting place of Vietnamese soldiers who died defending their country’s independence. Afterward, we’ll continue to Dong Ha for the night.
Day 6: Dong Ha – Khe Sanh Combat Base – A Luoi 100 km+ (B, L)
We’ll start with a bus transfer to Rockpile, Khe Sanh Combat Base, and Lang Vei. We’ll pass through the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone), where Vietnam was split into two countries from 1954 to 1975. We’ll continue to the remote village of A Luoi near Hue for an overnight stay.
Day 7: A Luoi – A Sau – A Roang – A Tep – Prao 90 km+ (B, L)
We’ll cycle to A Sau (Hamburger Hill), then continue uphill to A Roang and A Tep. The day will be spent cycling through former war zones with beautiful mountain views. We’ll stay overnight in Prao.
Day 8: Prao – Phuoc Son 90 km+ (B, L)
In the morning, we’ll cycle uphill toward the Central Highlands of Vietnam. The route will pass through scenic tea and coffee plantations. We’ll settle down for the night in Phuoc Son town.
Day 9: Phuoc Son – Dak Glei – Dakto Battlefield – Kon Tum 110 km+ (B, L)
We’ll cycle to Dak Glei, Dakto Battlefield, and Kon Tum — a total of 110 km. We’ll take breaks for lunch and may visit a wooden church on stilts and a French-built seminary that houses a small museum on local hill tribes. We’ll stay overnight in Kon Tum.
Day 10: Kon Tum – Pleiku (B)
The day will be spent sightseeing around tribal villages. After breakfast, we’ll take a guided tour of the local villages and have some free time to explore on your own before your departure flight.
