Ride through Northern Vietnam’s mountains – Cycle through breathtaking landscapes and remote villages.
Conquer Heaven’s Gate – Reach the highest stretch of road in Vietnam and enjoy panoramic views.
Day 1: Sapa - Heaven's Gate - Binh Lu - Tam Duong (L, D)
The trip will begin in Sapa with a cycle up Vietnam's highest pass to Heaven's Gate. We’ll stop for a rest at the top of the pass, where you can enjoy the picturesque view of the Sapa valley. Then, we’ll take a long snake-shaped road before enjoying an easy ride downhill toward Tam Duong, where we’ll stay overnight.
Day 2: Tam Duong - Phong Tho (B, L, D)
If today falls on a Thursday or Sunday, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Tam Duong market, which always offers a very photogenic display of White Hmong, Flower Hmong, Nhang, and Pu Na ethnic costumes. You’ll start in Tam Duong and take a jeep to the pass between Tam Duong and Phong Tho. Then, we’ll ride downhill on a dirt road toward the market town of Phong Tho. We’ll pass acres of lush riverside banana plantations and settle in the small town of Phong Tho for the night.
Day 3: Paso - Sin Ho - Muong Lay (B, L, D)
Today's route winds its way through the picturesque Na River valley, passing many small villages of Red and White Hmong, Kho Mu, and White Thai ethnic minorities. The sound of the river running below will follow you along the ride until we reach Lai Chau in the early afternoon. Then, we’ll have the opportunity to walk around town, enjoy some trekking in the mountains, float downstream in the river, or simply relax over a cup of coffee or a beer. We’ll stay in Muong Lay for the night.
Day 4: Muong Lay - Dien Bien Phu (B, L)
This is the easiest cycling day of the trip. We’ll begin with a jeep ride for the first 30 km before cycling downhill to Muong Lay village. The road from Muong Lay to Dien Bien Phu is paved, making your ride more enjoyable. Once again, you’ll pass ethnic villages of White Thai, Red and White Hmong, and Kho Mu minorities. In the afternoon, we’ll reach Dien Bien Phu to end the trip.
